New Jersey Luring Child Law

We represent clients charged with N.J.S.A. 2C:13-6; New Jersey luring child complaints and indictments filed in Middlesex County, Monmouth County, Mercer County, Somerset County, Essex County, Union County, and Hudson County.

It is a third degree crime to lure or entice a child into a motor vehicle, structure or isolated area with a purpose to commit a criminal offense with or against the child.

Child means a person less than 18 years old.

This offense encompasses structures - building, room, ship, vessel or airplane - isolated areas, as well as motor vehicles.

This offense applies to the attempt and not the completed act.

State must prove that defendant had a purpose to commit a criminal offense with or against the child.

A defendant convicted of a second or subsequent - third or fourth - luring of child offense, must be sentenced to a term of imprisonment.

The term of imprisonment must include a mandatory minimum term of one third to one half of the sentence imposed, or two years whichever is greater, during which time defendant is not eligible for parole.
